Dear Erwin
The original 12 V battery had a capacity of 24 Ah and flat terminals to accomodate M6 bolts. As this size of battery is no longer available, quoting its dimensions might be of some academic value, but anyway I haven't got an old 24 Ah battery at hand to measure it.
A similar battery with the same kind of terminals is Varta type 530 030 030 which, although featuring a capacity of 30 Ah and a cranking current of 300 A, is somewhat smaller in size (length 186 mm, width 130 mm, height 171 mm) and so will easily fit the battery compartment of your BMW 600 with some clearance. You can easily obtain this type of battery in motorcycle accessory shops such as Polo, Gericke, Louis and the like. Should they ask you what bike the battery is for, just quote BMW /6 or /7. If you are happy with a Taiwanese battery, you can purchase it at approximately half the Varta price.
By the way, what would need to happen until you'd contemplate to join this club?
Best regards,
R.H.
